Chocolate Chip Cookies

Grandma Sparkle’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup shortening
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
2 extra large eggs (slightly beaten)
1 overflowing tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. water
2 ¼ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 12 oz. pkg. NESTLE semi-sweet morsels

Cream sugar and brown sugar into the shortening and then stir in eggs, vanilla and water. Add soda and salt to the flour and add to the creamy mixture. Stir until well mixed. Add chocolate chips. Drop by large spoonfuls on cookie sheet.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 9 to 11 minutes.

Tootsie’s tips:

  • Do not over-bake. Check cookies at 9 minutes.
  • If your cookies start to dry out after two or three days, (Grandma’s cookies don’t usually last that long) put a slice of bread in the jar with the cookies to add moisture.
