The Solution
The solution is easy as it can be, Let’s see if you and Tootsie agree. The clues someone left in the truck were the best, And the scene at the ice cream shop told the rest.
Sal wouldn’t leave candy pieces there On the floor of the truck in Little Town Square. And if she had taken the canes away, She wouldn’t need peppermint ice cream today.
Nellie likes everything neat and clean, Not like the mess at the candy truck scene. If she’d looted the truck the canes had been in, The floor of that truck would be neat as a pin.
However, the pine-pitch on Elmer Gruff’s shoe, And the pine needles found in the truck were a clue. This led to the woods where I found all the candy, Behind Elmer’s house which was very handy
I confronted the candy-napper and said, “Just look at these canes of white and red. Like a shepherd’s staff that led the way To the Christ Child born on Christmas day.”
At that Elmer smiled and said, “Come let’s hurry, I’ll return the candy so don’t you worry.” So, off we went to Little Town Square, Where parents and children were waiting there.
Elmer Gruff then passed the candy canes out. He’d learned what Christmas is all about. Now you get a gold star for solving the case, From the Private Detective, Tootsie Chase.
